For this decadent treat you’ll need just four ingredients:

  • Dark creme de cacao: Creme de cacao is a chocolate flavored liqueur often with a hint of vanilla. It comes in both dark and white forms, which are almost identical in taste. We prefer dark creme de cacao in this recipe just for the color so feel free to substitute white if that’s what you have on hand.
  • Godiva chocolate liqueur: Godiva chocolate liqueur is the second chocolatey component in this martini. It differs from creme de cacao in that it’s more rich and creamy, which helps give this cocktail its luxuriously smooth feel.
  • Vodka: I generally go with plain vodka for this chocolate martini, but vanilla vodka would also add great flavor!
  • Half and half: For a little bit of added creaminess I use just a splash of half and half, but you could use heavy cream, whole milk or even non-dairy milk if you prefer.

To make the cocktail, just combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker (or jar) with ice. Shake until combined and chilled. Then strain into a martini glass!

  • 4 ounces (110 grams) semi-sweet chocolate
  • ½ cup (120 ml) heavy cream

Instructions

chocolate martini

  1. Optional: Spread a thin layer of ganache on a plate. Dip the rim of the martini glass in the ganache to coat. Drizzle the inside of the glass with ganache (or use a piping bag for more precise swirls).
  2. Combine all ingredients for the chocolate martini in a shaker filled with ice. Shake until chilled and strain into the prepared glass.

chocolate ganache

  1. Finely chop the chocolate, place in a small bowl and set aside.
  2. Heat the heavy cream in a small pot over medium heat just until it begins to simmer. Pour the cream over the chocolate. Cover and let sit for three minutes.
  3. Whisk the mixture until smooth. The ganache will harden as it sits so use to garnish the glass immediately.
