matcha chocolate chip chia pudding

Start your morning off right with this matcha chocolate chip chia pudding! A layer of rich chocolatey chia seed pudding topped with a layer of energizing matcha infused pudding makes for a nutritious breakfast bursting with flavor!

The inspiration for this chia pudding started as a craving for mint chocolate chip ice cream. Somewhere in the process of recipe development I found that matcha powder produced a delightfully minty color, but the matcha chia pudding was so tasty on its own that mint chocolate chip became matcha chocolate chip!

matcha chia pudding!

If you love chia puddings, you’ve probably already tried various chocolatey recipes, but have you tried using matcha powder for a fresh burst of flavor? Matcha, a type of green tea powder made from finely ground and dried tea leaves, has become one of my favorite ways to add a bit of energizing freshness to my chia puddings!

Rich in antioxidants, matcha is a powerhouse powder with a variety of health benefits. I like to have matcha chia pudding as a mid-morning snack — it gives a boost of energy and helps me focus! It does have a bit more caffeine than your average green tea, so it’s also a great option if you’re looking for a coffee alternative!

The quality of matcha powder does vary widely and is very much a product where you get what you pay for. A good quality matcha should have a bright green color and a sweet, earthy flavor. If you’re uncertain about which brand to buy, this matcha tea powder is both affordable and culinary grade!
