Let's make buchty: soft and fluffy yeast buns with a jam filling!
Originating in Czechia and popular throughout Europe, they're a sweet and satisfying treat!
Ingredients
Step #1
Buchty dough is similar to brioche and is enriched with butter, milk and egg yolks.
Step #2
Let the dough rise for 2 hours or until it doubles in size. The dough is quite heavy so it can take a bit longer to rise.
Step #3
Divide the dough into 18 pieces and fill with your favorite jam. We chose cherry preserves!
Step #4
Fold the dough around the jam and pinch to close.
Step #5
Place the buchty in a pan so that they're barely touching and allow to rise for 30 minutes.
Step #6
Bake at 350°F (180°C) for 25 minutes or until lightly golden.
Step #7
Allow to cool completely and then dust with powdered sugar.
Step #8
Buchty are the perfect grab-and-go breakfast or light dessert!
