German Maultaschen

Today we're making maultaschen: pasta pockets from Swabia!

The flavorful dumplings are packed with a delicous filling of meat and spinach!

LET'S MAKE MAULTASCHEN

Make the dough

The dough can be made from 5 simple ingredients!

Mix the filling in a food processor

This will emulsify the meat and other ingredients, making it easier to spread onto the dough.

Roll out the dough and add the filling

Make sure to leave a small border untouched around the edges.

Roll up the dough

Once you've rolled up the dough, gently press down to flatten.

Cut into individual pockets

Use the handle of a wooden spoon to make notches and then cut through with a sharp knife.

Cook for 10 minutes

Bring a pot of salted water to boil, then add the maultaschen and cook for 10 minutes.

Serve your maultaschen in a hearty broth or sauteed in butter with onions!
