Ingredients

  • 16 ounces cheese* (choose 3 types)
  • 16 ounces cured meats (choose 3 types)
  • 23 types of crackers & bread
  • 2 types of fresh vegetables (such as cucumbers, radishes or celery)
  • 1 type of fresh fruit (such as blueberries or grapes)
  • 3 condiments & dips*
  • 12 tangy accents (such as olives and pickles)
  • 12 sweet accents (such as dried fruits and candied nuts)

Instructions

  1. Evenly space out the cheeses on the board. Add the dishes that you’ll be using for things like condiments, dips and olives.
  2. Position the meats around the cheese.
  3. Arrange the breads and crackers on the board.
  4. Add the fresh fruit and vegetables.
  5. Add the tangy and sweet accents and fill the bowls with the dips and condiments.

Notes

Board Size: You can use a 12×24 inch board for this appetizer, although something slightly smaller or a combination of several boards would work as well.

Arranging the Charcuterie Board: In general, you want to start with your largest elements (cheese and bowls) and end with the smaller elements (nuts, dried fruits) to fill in the gaps.

Choosing Cheese: I recommend choosing one hard or semi-hard cheese (cheddar, asiago, gouda, etc.), one soft cheese (camembert, brie, etc.) and one wild card (blue cheese, goat cheese, etc.). Try to choose a variety of shapes and consider cutting wheels into wedges and hard cheese into cubes or slices before serving.

Choosing Condiments and Dips: I recommend choosing something creamy (tzatziki, spinach dip, etc.), something sweet (honey, jam, etc.) and a wild card (mustard, olive tapenade, etc.).
